There were some close races and great swims at the Shamrock Splash intrasquad meet last Tuesday. Later that evening, Bellevue defeated Interlake by a score of 121-61 at the first dual meet of the season. Go Wolverines!!!
See the results page for meet and heat results. Congratulations to all our swimmers and divers and thank you to all the volunteers who make these meets possible! Team picture day will be Saturday 3/20 at 12p in the BHS stadium stands. Coach Michael will update the school website schedule as well. Please wear your team jacket! If you have not been issued a team jacket yet please let Coach Michael or one of the Captains know or contact the girls boosters at bellevuegirlsswive@gmail.com.
NW Photography will be doing photos and there is usually an opportunity to do individual or other photos as well. Hope to see you all next Saturday for team photos! Show your team spirit - Bellevue High School Swim and Dive apparel is once again available for a limited time. The team captains designed some spirit wear options you can purchase online. Special thanks to Cheryl Rubin, Yong Chen, Makena, and Iris for getting the store open again and all the captains for your creativity and initiative in making pre-season apparel available this year.
Regular Season Meets
Regular season home meets are "hosted" by Bellevue High School volunteers. A lot of them. In a normal year, each meet requires a minimum of 12 timers, 4 officials, 1 head timer, 1 computer operator, 1 scoreboard operator, and 1 dive announcer. In most cases, we like to have backup support for the timers, computer, and scoreboard too. Given occupancy limitations on our facilities during the 2020-2021 season, we are approaching all meets with minimal staffing and safe spacing while also seeking to fulfill our objective of creating opportunities for all team members to compete according to their comfort.
Time Trials
Time Trials will be conducted weekly using the four middle lanes at Woodridge Swim Club. The outside lanes will be used for warm up/down and cheering by those not swimming. A minimum of four timers and a backup timer are required so we can get accurate times for all swims. Norwood Swim Club has been kind enough to loan us their starting system so we also need a starter with prior experience in Midlakes, USA Swimming, or equivalent meet settings. All volunteers will be expected to wear masks, participate in temperature checks and any other facility specific protocols.
Dual Meets
Dual Meets held at Mary Wayte Pool are limited to 20 swimmers per team. This year, swimmers will time for the heats ahead of them reducing the need for people on deck. There will be only two officials with one provided by each team regardless of whether these are home or away meets. At this time we are being asked to provide 1 official per dual meet. We also need to provide 1 computer operator and in most cases 1 scoreboard operator. Experience is preferred but there may be an opportunity for training in advance with the staff at Mary Wayte Pool. All volunteers will be expected to wear masks, participate in temperature checks and any other facility specific protocols. Coach will determine the roster for each dual meet a few days prior. This means there is some chance that you may sign up to volunteer at a venue your swimmer ultimately doesn't participate in but we have scheduled Time Trials so there is never overlap in the schedule. And, we really need the help so please do sign up! As a reminder, there will be no spectators permitted at this seasons' meets so volunteers get to actually watch some high school swimming live while also helping out the team. |
